5 More Buy Goods Mpesa Till Number Features You Know About 2023.

Here are 5 more mpesa till number features you should know about as a merchant so that you can maximise usage of your buy goods account;

Paybill mpesa till number feature Option.

As a merchant, you can also use your till number account to also pay your bills and purchase goods. You can do this using the Paygoods option provided by Safaricom. This can be done using USSD or using the Mpesa business app. Some of the most common bills you can pay using your till number account include electricity bills and water bills.

How to Paybills Using your Till Number

Using USSD

  1. Using your phone’s dialer application, dial *234*2*Store Number# to access your account
  2. Select Make Payments (Option 2).
  3. Select Paybill, which is number 2.
  4. Enter the business number, for example, 215215 for buying airtime
  5. Enter the account number you want to pay for, for example, your token meter number if buying KPLC prepaid tokens.
  6. Enter the amount you want to pay in KES, for example, 100.
  7. Enter your operator ID, the one given when you created your Till number account using my previous article.
  8. Enter the operator PIN for your Buy Goods account.
  9. Done, you will receive an SMS confirming whether or not the transaction was successful.

Using Mpesa Business App

  1. Open the M-Pesa business app and enter your PIN to log in to your account.
  2. From the Dashboard, select the “Transact” section of the application.
  3. Enter your business number, or select one from the list of common business numbers provided by the mpesa business application.
  4. Enter the Account number you are making payments for.
  5. Enter the amount you are paying.
  6. Enter your pin to complete the transaction.
  7. Done, you will be notified after a few seconds.

Sell airtime and make more money

Apart from receiving payments for other services you offer, did you know that you could also use your merchant account to sell airtime to your customers? Yes, you can grow money in your mpesa till account by selling airtime and receiving a commission.

For example, if a customer purchases airtime worth KES 200, you will receive approximately KES 10 commission for this sale. So, If you like me, and like to leave the cash in your till number account for one month before withdrawal, a good strategy would be to sell airtime, when the customer gives you cash, just use your mpesa to deposit it to your till, and if they want to send it via mobile money, even better.

You will notice that at the end of the month after selling this airtime frequently, your cash will have grown. This is better than even investing in a bank, where you get peanuts after a whole year.

Get a loan for your business feature

If you get stuck at some point with purchasing a stock for your business, you could also borrow a loan from your buy goods till number and get that boost you really need. You know how loan lenders work, the more active your account is, the more loan amount you are likely to get.

I know some people are scared of loans, but if you have no other options, it is worth a try.

Get access to your Statements instantly feature

This is one of the advantages of using the mpesa business app to manage your till number account because you get access to your account statement any time you need it. If you mistakenly deleted a transaction message or you want to countercheck if a customer sent payment, request a transaction statement for the period you want and it will be instantly downloaded to your device.
